Final Front Cover and Contents Page

The top image is my final Front cover. I used Adobe Photoshop which i had previous experience with but not to create a layout with i had only used the programme to edit photographs. So while completing my final cover, I was learning a lot of new things and using tools on photoshop that I had not used before. For example the text tool. As I was using an apple mac I was dragging images and placing them onto the page, which again I had never had any experience with. I am very pleased with how my Student Magazine cover looks. I created my front cover before my contents page. My medium close-up photography I edited it before I used it, using the magnetic lasso I went round the student and selected inverse I then made the background a bit out of focus using a blur filter. I did this so that the focus was on the student. I then placed my photo into Photoshop, I needed to re size the image so that it would fit and still look proportionally correct. The photograph follows my intentions and guidelines that I was set and the text is on the left side and the subject is making eye contact. I worked systematically creating my front cover, despite it not completely following my original flat plan but following the basics I believe what I have created is better. My original plan did not look correctly layed out with the photo that I had chosen to use. I followed my ideas that I had written in my proposal. I used different fonts and colours so that it was not repetitive and boring and the colour chosen make the text stand out from the background. I included a barcode to make it more realistic as a magazine, I had not mentioned I would use one in my Proposal, but I believe it was a good decision to include it.

This image is my final Contents page. I wanted to carry the same colours on through out (the red and white). I chose to use these colours because they work well together and on top of each other as well as because they fit my theme of my magazine being published in summer. I changed my contents page layout to the one that i drew out for my flat plan. I thought that this layout would be more interesting and appealing to the flat plan design. I used a banner to capture the eye of the reader so that they would be aware when the next issue would come out. I chose the selective headlines that I thought more people would be interested in. These photos were also taken around the college grounds. Personally after never using a mac before I think I have created a successful contents page which would appeal to my target audience.
